Prototype: normal_note

When you create a new note inside a category note (or inside any other note having prototype normal_note), the note is born with normal_note as it prototype. We can call an instance of normal_note a normal-note.

A normal-note is a note that is not an audio transcript, a person, a journal article, a book, a quotation, a quotation analysis, an event, or an entry of code documentation, or any other species. Nearly all of your post notes will be normal-notes.

Prototypes inherit from other prototypes, and normal_note the root prototype shared by all the other content prototypes. Upshot: any changes you make to normal_note will trickle down to all your other content notes as well.

So … if you want to effect maximum change with minimal effort, change normal_note. For example, if you make a stamp that sets the visuals for normal_note, most of these will be inherited by the other content prototypes. In this way you can create themes to set writing ambience with the flick of a switch.

Built-in theme stamps
The built-in Keys•[…] and Color•[…] stamps take advantage of this fact to set the $DisplayedAttributes and various colors for all your notes by setting the values of normal_note and util_note. (Read more about these stamps here.)

Use normal_note for normal content pages, posts, and sub-posts.

There was a wasp nest on the slide—if the splinters didn’t violate your sensitive baby flesh, the wasps would. When I finally got stung, a kindly counselor, a long-haired mountain man from Deliverance, mashed his wad of chaw into my wound. I have no idea if it helped.

During horseback riding I was kicked in the head. To make sure the stirrups were even I squatted in front of the horse to check them. “Are they on the same horizontal …” Bam! Twelve hours later I awoke in the infirmary. The horse punched me with his left fist and I had flipped backwards, witnesses said.
