The champion of “one disease, one cure,” Galen identified health with a single concept—fluid equilibrium. Health is a system, and so a unity in the sense that the whole system is either working well or it is not. This sort of medical monism fits our intuition that self is one, and body is (property of) self—so health is one well-running totality.
